PixelatedFix Video Quality Checker privacy

Single purpose

PixelatedFix Video Quality Checker checks the technical playback quality of the largest visible video on the current tab after you click the extension. It reports decoded size, displayed size, stretching, and available dropped-frame information so you can understand what Chrome is currently playing.

Chrome permissions and reasons

activeTab provides temporary access to the current tab only after you click the extension. scripting runs the packaged, local checker on that tab to find the largest visible video and read the limited playback facts described below. The extension requests no host permissions, does not run automatically, and has no background worker.

Information checked locally

The extension temporarily reads the current video's decoded dimensions, displayed dimensions, object-fit style, playback-ready state, cumulative total and dropped frame counts when Chrome provides them, and a local YouTube-or-generic site classification. These facts stay inside the extension popup and are discarded when the popup closes.

Information not collected or transmitted

The extension does not collect, store, sell, or transmit video or audio content, the page URL, the video URL, filenames, browsing history, search history, cookies, account details, personal information, passwords, payment information, or analytics. It does not download media, alter a player, or send diagnostic results to PixelatedFix or another service.

Local review-prompt preferences

The extension uses its own localStorage only for pf_successful_checks_v1, a count used to show a review prompt after three successful checks, and pf_review_prompt_dismissed_v1, which remembers when you choose “Not now.” These values never leave your browser. Clearing extension site data or removing the extension clears them.

PixelatedFix website handoff

If a result suggests that an original file may benefit from enhancement and you choose the PixelatedFix action, the PixelatedFix website opens in a separate tab. The fixed link contains only campaign labels and does not include your page URL, video URL, diagnosis, or dimensions. Anything you later choose to upload on the website is governed by the separate PixelatedFix website privacy policy.

Policy changes and contact

We will update this page and its last-updated date before a material change takes effect. If a change affects permissions or data handling, the extension and Chrome Web Store disclosure will be updated before release. Questions can be sent to support@pixelatedfix.com.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
